2025 Breastfeeding Week and Nutrition Promotion Week Commemoration Ceremony

Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association held a ceremony to commemorate the Breastfeeding Week and Nutrition Promotion Week on August 22, 2025 at 9:00 AM at the MMCWA(central) Training Hall, Thukuma Road, Dekkhina Thiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
The ceremony was attended by the President, Vice President and Central Executive Committee members of Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association, the President and members of the Nay Pyi Taw Maternal and Child Welfare Supervisory Committee, and 30 pregnant women from the Myittar Sanyay Clinic, MMCWA.
In the ceremony, Professor Dr. San San Myint Aung, President of MMCWA, gave an opening speech. The association has been implementing Nutrition Promotion Weeks and Breastfeeding Week activities in collaboration with the Ministry of Health every year. “Nutrition Promotion Weeks” have been implemented throughout the month of August every year. The first week of August is designated as Breastfeeding Week, the second week as Nutrition Promotion Week for Under Five Children and Students, the third week as Nutrition Promotion Week for Pregnant and Lactating Mothers, and the fourth week as Iodine Deficiency Elimination Week. These activities are being implemented systematically in collaboration with the Ministry of Health nationwide. Children under five are the most important, they should be vaccinated systematically according to the month and their weight should be measured regularly and their nutrition should be fed systematically. The theme of the 2025 Nutrition Development Week is “Invest in Breastfeeding, Invest in the Future,” which in Burmese means “Let’s invest in breastfeeding for a beautiful future for children.”
Then, Dr. Pa Pa, a member of the Central Executive Committee of MMCWA, discusses and educate on “Nutrition for Pregnant and Lactating Mothers,” and Dr. Myint Myint Khaing, Joint Secretary (2) of MMCWA, educate on “Nutrition for Children Under Five.” Then, 30 pregnant women who visited the Myittar Sanyay Clinic, three or more times were provided with nutritional support, and the ceremony was successfully concluded.
